The path towards holistic pet food and supplies was a personal one for Sunflower Pet Supply owner, Beth Iverson.  Beth had been around animals her whole life: she grew up with horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, and chickens.  A couple of years ago she and her husband decided the time was right to buy their very first dog.  They chose an adorable 8 week old German shepherd puppy, and named him Connor.  Connor was a wonderful addition to the household, but from day one, odd health problems plagued him.  His coat was dry, his digestion was poor, and he had a difficult time gaining weight - even though he gobbled up all of his food.  

After numerous veterinary tests revealing no obvious answers, Beth finally decided to research her dog food as a possible cause. What she found astounded her.  She could not believe such a “reputable” big-name brand could use such poor quality ingredients, needless fillers (corn, wheat, etc.), questionable preservatives, as well as many other concerning ingredients.  

After furthering her research, she found an entirely new line of premium quality foods that used superior ingredients, safe protein sources and healthy grains, lots of fruits and vegetables and only natural preservatives.  She made the switch…and the results were amazing!  Connor’s skin problems cleared up, his digestion improved, and his overall happiness soared.

The only problem remaining was the high prices she had to pay and long drives she had to endure to find stores that carried these premium brands.  Most of these products cannot be found at the large chain stores.  This is when Beth envisioned her own holistic pet supply store.

She opened Sunflower Pet Supply in November of 2007 with the goal of providing a holistic approach to pet needs at a reasonable price.
