One of Ahwatukee’s favorite dentists is expanding and
has established Fulton Ranch Dental, a fabulous new
second office in Ocotillo. Dr. David Rush chose the
picturesque Fulton Ranch Towne Center location for its
beauty and
convenience. “Over the last 19 years, many of our
patients have relocated to the Chandler/Gilbert/Tempe
areas. In an effort to accommodate these patients, we
have chosen this central area to build our second
location,” explains Dr. Rush.
The
new office is nothing short of amazing! “When we first
designed our Ahwatukee office, we wanted every patient
to feel comfortable and welcome. We created it to feel
like a home, not an institution,” says Dr. Rush. This
new office has been designed with that theory…on
steroids! Everything, from the beautiful Tuscan décor
with hand painted murals and warm colors to the
children’s theatre room, was planned with the patients
comfort in mind. They offer a refreshment area with
beverages and fresh baked cookies, and a tooth brushing
area for the hectic, on-the-go patient. There are no
sterile plastic chairs in the waiting area – instead you
will find family-room style seating – luxurious couches
and chairs with two big screen TVs.
Not only
is Fulton Ranch Dental comfortable and homey, but it has
state-of-the-art equipment throughout. “Offering the
latest technology to our patients allows for more
accurate diagnosis of dental disease, including those
that may affect a patient’s overall health - oral
cancer, for instance. It allows us, as dental
professionals, to educate our patients at a higher
level, which in turn, increases their dental I.Q.,” Dr.
Rush explains. By investing in and using the latest
technology to educate patients, Fulton Ranch Dental
brings a greater awareness of the importance of caring
for oral health.
The
most exciting feature at Fulton Ranch Dental is that of
Laser Cavity Detection. Imagine being able to diagnosis
and treat decay while it’s still in its most
conservative stage, many times without the need for
anesthetic. The ability to treat decay early and
conservatively allows the dentist to maintain the
structural integrity of the tooth. Early detection is
the key to avoiding more invasive procedures.
Dr.
Rush’s patients are most excited about the in-treatment
room entertainment/education monitors. While having
their treatment, patients can choose from over 100 TV
channels, or they can watch their treatment actually
being performed on a screen above their chair. During
the examination, they can view their mouth magnified up
to 70x, giving them the opportunity to really see what
the doctor sees. This is so helpful when they plan
further treatment. Using their new Casey Patient
Education System, the patient is educated on procedures
they require by viewing a short video presentation
explaining the future treatment plan. “I love it when
the patient and I are in sync with their treatment
plan. Each patient should feel confident with their
care,” says Dr. Rush.

If
visiting the dentist causes you panic, Dr. Rush is also
certified to perform Oral Conscious Sedation. This
allows him to treat anxious patients in a manner that
allows them to relax. “There are so many people out
there who have not visited a dentist in a decade because
of fear or anxiety. Our goal is for your dental
experience to be as pleasant and comfortable as we can
make it,” explains Dr. Rush. He’s also proud to offer
Invisalign Orthodontic treatment. Many patients,
especially adults, prefer this treatment over
traditional metal braces.
Aside from all the amazing technology they offer, first
and foremost, Fulton Ranch Dental is a Family Dental
Practice at its core, treating patients ages 2 to 92.
“Yes, we do cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry, it’s an
integral part of our practice, but we are a family
practice. Dentistry is about one-on-one, doctor-patient
relationships. It’s about developing trust. Even
though I took ove r
100 hours of continuing education classes last year to
stay on the cutting edge of technology, I still feel the
most important aspect that I can give my patients is a
‘high touch’ practice. If you need to call with an
after-hours emergency, you don’t get an answering
service. You get my cell. I don’t use a service to
decide which of my patients REALLY needs me,’ says Dr.
Rush.
Dr. Rush was able to expand his busy practice by finding
a colleague who shares his same goals, ethics and
visions. Dr. Samuel Mortensen, who recently graduated
with Honors from Boston University, has joined his
team. Dr. Mortensen, a Tempe native, received one of
only 2 awards given to his graduating class for
outstanding clinical skill. Dr. Rush is confident that
his patients will be as excited about him as he is.
